Police continue to investigate the shooting, which officials described as the largest mass shooting in Chicago this year. Authorities say at least two shooters dressed in black and wearing ski masks opened fire into a crowd around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Police said someone from the gathering returned fire. Detectives are collecting surveillance video as they work to identify those responsible.
The shooting drew comments from President Donald Trump, who described violence in Chicago as out of control and said he was awaiting a request for help from the mayor.
In a post, Trump wrote, “Chicago violence is unchecked and at record levels. It has never been worse! This weekend 41 people were shot, 3 DEAD. These numbers are becoming normalized. It is out of control!”
Trump went on to say he is waiting for Johnson or Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker to call him, writing, “The city will die if the Federal Government, a fine tuned crime fighting machine, is not invited in, by the Mayor or Governor, to HELP. I am awaiting the call. Nobody should be forced to live under these conditions.”
Johnson dismissed the criticism.
“When you have a president who is literally defunding the operations that can actually assist us in creating safer communities, it’s difficult to take anything that he says seriously,” Johnson said.

The violence almost always happens in a very limited areas of the city. And he knows the foolish chiraq residence will keep voting for him. And PRIDE parades are still allowed. So he knows he’s safe.

Trump cut funding for the Community Violence Intervention and Prevention Initiative which was a federal grant program that only began in 2022 under Biden. Gee, what did the country do before millions for more social workers? And what happened across the country after funding was cut? Actually record low murder rates. Mayor Brandon wants those millions from out of state federal taxpayers to fund his friends that do nothing to help Chicago’s violence problem. It’s wild how out of touch with reality you have to be to vote for Democrats.

Trump did not defund “the operations that can actually assist us in creating safer communities” – what he defunded was the fraud ya’ll had going on with the funds that were provided. Less than 10% of the federal money for your ‘safer communities” made it into things that make communities safer and then it was stuff like ‘community meetings’ that went no where and did nothing, the rest went for leasing office space that was never occupied, pet projects, ’employees’ that did not exist, and paying friends and relatives to do stuff they never did and some of it just vanished.
Trump is offering to come in and do the job for you, that costs money, it costs tax payer dollars – and if you let him come in a take care of business in effect the tax dollars for that effort would go for actually assisting you in creating safe communities. In other words Trump is in effect offering you the money just in a different form of actually putting it to work, only you don’t get to control actual money this time like you did in the past because you can’t be trusted with the money and not getting the money its self is what you are really mad about.
