Following a weekend of tragedies both here and abroad which included a terrorist attack in Australia, a deadly shooting at Brown University in Rhode Island and the reported stabbing deaths of Hollywood icon Rob Reiner and his wife, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said guns aren’t the problem and restrictions aren’t the solution.
“If anything,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, “this trio of tragedies underscores the fact that it is the evil in some people, not the instrument they use, which is ultimately to blame. Look at the facts. Rhode Island has very strong gun control laws already on the books, and murder has always been against the law, but that didn’t prevent Saturday’s violence. And let’s not overlook the fact that Brown University is a gun-free zone.
“Australia adopted some of the strictest gun control laws in the world following the 1996 Port Arthur mass shooting,” he continued, “but that did not prevent the father-son terrorist attack at Bondi Beach on Sunday. Yet the first thing Prime Minister Anthony Albanese wants to do is add further restrictions, including a limit on the number of firearms Australian citizens may own. Sadly, Australia does not allow its citizens to carry firearms for personal protection, and we saw the result of that foolishness on the Sunday evening news.
“And no California gun control law prevented what happened to Mr. Reiner and his wife,” Gottlieb observed, “because they were stabbed to death.
“The only common denominator in all three of these horrendous crimes is the evil intent of the perpetrators,” he said, “and that is not something which can be prevented by passing another law that only affects honest citizens. To suggest otherwise defies common sense, and only illustrates the flawed single-mindedness of the gun prohibition lobby.
“Those who advocate for more restrictions on personal freedom in response to criminal violence are admitting they don’t have any real solutions,” Gottlieb concluded. “They refuse to acknowledge their policies have accomplished nothing, while creating scapegoats to hide their own failures.
“With this wave of terrible crimes,” he said, “it is no surprise that so many more people are buying and carrying firearms for their own protection, and that of their loved ones.”
Of course it’s the guns fault.
Has nothing at all to do with importing populations hostile to western values, who refuse to assimilate, who view women and property, who for generations have sought to exterminate a people, who believe the only way for them to have peace is for you to die.
Nah, it’s the guns.
Clearly if you made all the guns disappear these people would instantly turn into upstanding and tolerant neighbors.
Now we have locals plotting mass murder on behalf of these animals. Good things are ahead no doubt.

One survivor described a prolonged, methodical assault carried out in full view of police officers who, he says, never intervened. Witness Shmulik Scuri told a reporter that the shooters carried out their attack for what he estimated was 20 minutes, and the police did nothing.
‘There was, there was two shooters, one on the bridge, one under the bridge, and just start to shoot for 20 minutes,’ he said. The gunmen fired repeatedly, paused to reload, and resumed without interruption. ‘They shoot, shoot, change, change the magazine, and just shoot.’
What left Scuri shaken was what he says did not happen. Police were present, yet no one returned fire. ‘Uh, simple as that. Twenty minutes. There was four policemen there. Nobody give fire back,’ he said.
As the shooting continued, Scuri hid with his children while watching one of the attackers operate with chilling calm. ‘I was with two of my babies under me, and I look at them, and he’s just rifle and a, and a pistol, and just shoot, shoot,’ he said. He watched the gunman reload and fire again and again, while another attacker moved closer from below the bridge toward the Odeon area.
One of the shooters was ultimately stopped by a civilian. Ahmed al Ahmed, a 43-year-old fruit seller, took cover behind parked cars before charging the gunman from behind. In a video that has since gone viral on social media, Al Ahmed is seen wrestling the firearm away from the attacker. He is now being hailed as a hero who likely saved countless lives.

Scuri’s account of police inaction once again exposes the fantasy at the heart of gun control. Advocates insist that armed law enforcement provides all the protection the public needs. Reality tells a different story. In most emergencies, police arrive too late to make a difference. At Bondi Beach, officers were already on the scene and, according to Scuri, still failed to stop the shooters.
Australia’s sweeping gun restrictions make the point even clearer. The idea that police can always protect civilians in an emergency collapses the moment theory meets real life. When seconds matter, promises and policies offer no shield at all.
