I’m torn between carrying to protect my family and not carrying to protect my family. Confidence in my ability to restrain myself if they tried to take her is low. However, escalating that situation would most certainly lead to even worse outcomes. So there lies the rub.

If the FBI rifle was select fire (which I suspect it was), it qualifies as a machine gun. As he’ll be charged with a crime against federal property (i.e., the breaking into vehicle) that was accomplished with the use of physical force against property of another, that makes it a “crime of violence” in which he possessed a machine gun in furtherance of it.
Ergo, under 18 U.S.C. 924(1)(B)(ii), he’s facing a mandatory sentence of at least 30 years.

Being one of those libertarians who believes rights come with responsibilities, I take my responsibiliities around carry (open or concealed) very seriously, and I would hope everyone else would do the same. The weekends and money I’ve spent practicing and training and attending classes speaks to that. First off ICE agents aren’t as you call them “fucktards” their government agents trying to do their job no matter how the real “fucktards” are trying to stop them. Do your research and see how many violent criminals have been removed so far, not just listen to the lies the media is spreading. Now to answer your question, my DIL is a naturalized US citizen, Filipino, and she carries a copy of her papers with her. Your wife could carry a copy of her birth certificate just like that, note I’m a veteran and I carry a copy of my DD214 takes up no room and just in case I need it I have it and have carried it since discharge. Now if you feel froggy carry to protect her but I can see you would not win a gun fight with them no matter how good you are. All she or you would have to do is COMPLY TO THEIR ORDERS, you know obey the law, and chances are nothing would happen. If it did in a short time she would be released and you would still be alive, day saved with a little lost time. But you have to do what you feel is right and hopefully you are still alive afterwards to go home to your family.
