Wilson Combat is a sure bet for designing some eye-catching guns, and their new Designated Marksman Rifle is the perfect example of the manufacturer’s aesthetic. The Wilson Combat DMR is a beautifully executed rifle and fits right into that niche of shooters who enjoy some long-range precision but want to keep their rifle to a smaller overall length (we all know how big precision rifles can get).

The DMR is chambered for 223 Wylde with an 18-inch fluted Recon barrel with a 1-in-8 twist rate. The barrel is topped by a Q-Comp muzzle device. Yes, that’s a somewhat shorter barrel for true long-range work, but that doesn’t mean it won’t get it done. This rifle will be your best bet for moderate ranges rather than 1000+ yard shots, but it’s all a matter of your own perspective of long range. The factory trigger is a 2-stage TTU with a curved blade, so you’re good right out of the box in that perspective (which is to be expected with a Wilson Combat rifle like this one).

Features of the Wilson Combat DMR include a Magpul MOE stock (adjustable for length of pull), a BCM Starburst Gunfighter grip, and a flat-top billet receiver set. The upper and lower receiver are hard anodized with an Armor Tuff finish so they’re truly resistant to use-related wear. The DMR does have a full-length Picatinny rail which is great for adding whatever optics and accessories you’re interested in, and the handguard has MLOK slots as well.

On to dimensions, which might seem boring but they’re important. That 18-inch barrel is part of a 38.25-inch overall length (which changes a little depending on how you adjust the stock). The rifle’s empty weight is 6 pounds, 14.6 ounces. It ships with a single 10-round magazine which really doesn’t make it that much heavier when it’s loaded.
This is a nice-looking rifle, and thanks to its design and chambering, it’s bound to deliver reliable precision. Exactly how precise is going to depend on you (hey, it’s the truth).
MSRP is $2,575.
