The newest series of handguns from Sarsilmaz is the SAR 7/24 (not 24/7), and if you feel at all confused by the branding, there’s an explanation.
SAR USA, the manufacturer a ridiculous number of us show-goers strongly associate with those free, bright red tote bags given out at SHOT every year, is rebranding the Turkish gun maker as Sarsilmaz. A quick moment of silence for the red bags. Anyway, the company announced it will now be known as Sarsilmaz, a word that translates to “unshakable” as a nod to its heritage and legacy.
Going forward, it’s Sarsilmaz.
At its launch, the new Sarsilmaz SAR 7/24 family includes three guns: Full-Size, Sport, and Compact. They’re all chambered in 9mm and are all-metal hammer-fired handguns…which warms my heart. There’s absolutely a time and a place for polymer, but the appeal and longevity of metal is undeniable.
Here’s a quick breakdown of available models:
SAR 7/24 Compact: Designed for superior carry performance for concealed carriers. 3.6-inch barrel, optic-ready slide, Picatinny rail ahead of the trigger guard, flared magwell for rapid mag changes, and a 17+1 capacity. This is a double-action pistol with a curved trigger. Overall height is 5.7-inches, length is 7.7 inches, and width is 1.3-inches. The Compact weighs 36.3 ounces empty.
SAR 7/24 Full Size: A great option for concealed carry that’s easiest done with a cover garment, but also fantastic for open carry while you’re out checking fences. This is a double-action gun with a curved trigger. 4.0-inch barrel, multi-footprint optic cut slide, Picatinny accessory rail, flared magwell, and 17+1 capacity. The gun’s empty weight is 38 ounces.
SAR 7/24 Sport: Enhanced performance for a competitive advantage. 4.4-inch barrel, optic ready, Picatinny rail ahead of trigger guard, speed-reload flared magwell, and 17+1 capacity. This is a single-action gun with a flat-faced trigger designed to optimize control and improve accuracy. Overall length is 8.1-inches, height is 5.7-inches, and width is 1.6-inches. The Sport weighs 39.8 ounces empty.
The Sarsilmaz SAR 7/24 line promises impressive durability and reliable performance. The fact that they’re all metal helps mitigate felt recoil which gives you a boost for accuracy and control. Grip panels are ridged and aggressive enough to facilitate a firm grip without being uncomfortable and all controls are textured for smooth operation.
