  1. The only firearm thing I ever lost in a boating accident was a red dot sight.

We were using a bass boat to cross a pond that has been expanded by an over flowing creek that had backed up under very heavy rain fall after the county had inadvertently diverted an area run off tributary into the creek – to get to a friends firing range on the other side because the road was also washed out as a result of the county blunder. I had put a Sig Romeo MSR red dot sight on an AR, but had not snugged down the screws and didn’t think about it when I grabbed the rifle planning to zero the optic. I shifted some stuff around in the boat to find something about half way across and lifted the rifle up and ‘plop!’ right into the pond the sight went.

Left it there all winter. Late spring he drains the pond to build up the land for a barn construction. The sight was found setting on a rock, covered in mud and stuff, washed it off and it still worked with no water ingress evident.
