[M]any states including Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Massachusetts, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Virginia, Washington, and Wyoming have passed restrictions on using the AR-15 to hunt large game such as deer, elk, moose, bighorn sheep, or bear.
None of the other uses advanced by the parties immunizes AR-15 platform weapons from otherwise valid regulation. Most notably, the Solicitor General maintains that AR-15 platform weapons are suitable for “repelling invasions, suppressing insurrections, and resisting tyranny.”
Today, of course, these responsibilities are reserved for the United States military, which maintains trained professional armies across the globe. Certainly, this marks a dramatic shift from the founding, when there was a deep mistrust of standing armies, and colonists rightly feared the British soldiers quartered amongst them.
But the founders wisely struck a balance between the citizen-militia and the professional army…which allowed the fledgling nation to pragmatically reassess its view of national and domestic security “when new political, economic, technological, and strategic realities necessitated an abandonment of revered, but outmoded, military practices.”

I can tell you at least 1 lie from that piece. Iowa does allow AR’s for hunting large animals. Anything in an AR platform above .350 is allowed for deer hunting.

I thought Iowa passed a bill that allowed use of AR platform (e.g. AR-15) with .223 ammo, in 2022?

“Iowa hunters will be able to use semi-automatic weapons including AR-15 rifles to kill deer in more parts of the state during a newly created antlerless season in January under a bill signed by Gov. Kim Reynolds.
Iowa lawmakers passed the bill in May and it was signed by Reynolds on Friday.
…
The bill also will allow hunters during the new season to use smaller .223 caliber bullets, which could make it more challenging for a hunter to kill a larger animal like a deer.

Well.
When just two men wearing camouflage clothes and carrying long guns. One an AR-15. And the other an auto shotgun. They stopped the riots in Ferguson Missouri. And they never shot anyone. And they didn’t even point their guns at anyone either.
And the white libertarians liberals and leftists lost their minds. How dare these outsiders, come in. And stop OTHER OUTSIDERS, from their “freedom of expression”.
The white three L’s really do enjoy that champagne s0.c!@li.st pr0gressive libertarianism.
Yes, that’s correct I said it. Now go read Reason Magazine and the other articles attacking law abiding gun owners. Who were openly carry guns. And stopped the private poverty of black American citizen shopkeepers. From being burned to the ground.
Because the law abiding black property owners were very happy to have two white gun owners. Show up to voluntarily protect what they have. Since the police were ordered to stand down and do nothing.
The 1st amendment freedom of speech freaks. Have never ever supported the Bill of Rights.
A militia can consist of just two men. When law enforcement is ordered to stand down. And do nothing.

“Cook County Argues That Resisting Tyranny is Now the Job of the Government, Not People With AR-15 Rifles”
Then send the U.S. military to ‘resist’ cook county tyranny, by deposing Pritzker and the cook county ‘government’ and arresting all the democrats in the Illinois state legislature and the police enforcing the cook county tyranny. I’m pretty sure the Marines could go through Illinois in about a day or so and bring liberation and freedom from the Illinois tyranny.

This is not true.
* There is no constitutional provision that replaces ‘the people’ (e.g. the militia) with the standing military, nor is there any constitutional provision that gives the standing military a position above that of ‘the people’ (e.g. the militia) for “repelling invasions, suppressing insurrections, and resisting tyranny.” – because they could do it, or have trained professional armies across the globe, does not mean they replace ‘the people’ (e.g. the militia). There is no “dramatic shift from the founding”, the constitution is still the same today and there simply is no constitutional provision that replaces ‘the people’ (e.g. the militia) with the standing military or gives the standing military a position above that of ‘the people’ (e.g. the militia).
“Certainly, this marks a dramatic shift from the founding, when there was a deep mistrust of standing armies, and colonists rightly feared the British soldiers quartered amongst them.”
* A complete mischaracterization fabrication. Its true that “there was a deep mistrust of standing armies, and colonists rightly feared the British soldiers quartered amongst them.” BEFORE WE WON THE REVOLUTION. After we won, the idea of a standing army was reprehensible to the founders because they saw the British army, a standing army, used as that instrument of tyranny and preferred ‘the people’ (e.g. the militia). However, they did allow for a standing army but it was not created to become preferred – it was created as co-equal but subservient (via civilian control) to the ‘the people’ – notice how the founders never said “well, we have a standing army so lets get rid of the arms for the people ’cause surely our standing army would never be an instrument of tyranny.” [and Joe Biden threatened to use the military too against the American people to wage war against gun owners, and other democrat politicians have proposed using the military against the American people (not just gun owners) and have even called for the military to disobey lawful orders of the president and officers and side against the American people in an attempt to have a coup]. So the founders codified this preference for ‘the people’ by ensuring the people could be armed for defense by restating in writing the natural human right of defense, the God (or ‘creator’ if you prefer) right of defense, they understood to exist for all humans and is in fact a natural survival instinct in humans, they codified it in the Second Amendment with “… the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
And the founders were right too. For we have seen that tyranny forming with the Biden administration and these democrat politicians who censored American citizens, conducted secret and illegal ‘star chamber’ investigations, threatened to use military war-force against the American people, tried to incite a coup, fomenting unrest and insurrection by facilitating violent left wingers and criminals. And now, this left wing moron from Illinois says “Hey, its a military job to resist tyranny”, the very military in the hands of a Democrat tyrannical government like the Biden tyranny, the very tyranny the founders warned us against and provided for our arming to resist if necessary. The very move of tyranny, consolidating power of force in only the hands of the government – the tyranny the founders feared and warned us of and provided a codified writing of the natural right to resist with arms by writing down a very simple and easily understood “… the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” to resist tyranny in all forms be it from one of the violent left wingers and democrat politicians that calls for conservatives to be murdered or a criminal or from a state or county or local government, or even from another democrat run federal government (and make no mistake, the democrats have laid out their plans to do it too and bring about that tyranny and have made those plans known and public) and for (to say it another way) all ‘lawful purposes’ and at the very basics that ‘lawful purpose’ includes the right of the people to own and possess and use an AR-15 for they are the ‘preferred’ the founders favored and not the standing military.
