SNW contributor and New Jersey’s own John Petrolino has received the 2025 Outstanding Achievement Award in Broadcasting by The Professional Outdoor Media Association (POMA).
2025 Award Winners were announced during POMA’s Annual Meeting at Ohio’s Maumee Bay Lodge & Conference Center on June 25, 2025.
POMA’s Pinnacle Awards honor journalists for exceptional achievement in the traditional outdoor magazine space, for broadcasting and conservation journalism, photography, illustration, books, newspaper and web writing.
Petrolino‘s award is for his coverage of an attempted home invasion and successful armed self-defense by John Kabourakis from Howell, New Jersey.
Kabourakis’ residence was broken into by three masked individuals while his young children slept upstairs. The well-trained homeowner was able to defend his home and children. Kabourakis sent the criminals fleeing without ever firing a single shot.
We congratulate John on his award, which is certainly well deserved.
