Rally starting in Richmond! pic.twitter.com/WwIzG6X7j7

After the change in control of Virginia’s government and the (so far successful) push to enact virtually every gun control law and regulation that the civilian disarmament industrial complex dreams of, gun owners rallied in Richmond over the weekend.
And much as they did when Colorado passed a “high capacity” magazine ban back in 2013, Magpul was there handing out free standard capacity 30-round PMAGs to all comers while they’re still legal in the commonwealth.
Hats off to Magpul! What a great, patriotic company! I picked up a free 30-round magazine at the rally today, too. https://t.co/7s1YOpvCAw

The response from gun owners was predictable: “LOL, Dems are so dumb! Don’t they know their bans just cause panic buying? Millions more guns and mags are sold than would have been without the ban!”
Here’s a hard truth, though: The gun-banners know all of that…and they don’t care.
This isn’t just about banning scary guns and magazines, it’s about destroying the gun culture in the long term. You will still have your guns and your mags, but those who aren’t yet into shooting (or who are too young right now) will be denied them.
For the same reason, announcing “I will not comply” isn’t enough. Sure, go ahead and have your secret gun collection that your kids or grandkids will then turn in once you die. That’s some “win.”
By all means, buy guns and magazines ahead of the bans taking effect. I’m not saying you shouldn’t. Stock up while you can. But that defiance isn’t enough on its own. We have to continue actively winning over the culture, and that includes defeating these laws and the politicians who enact them in the dozen or so states that have AWBs now, or will soon.
