Minnesota’s Rep. Ilhan Omar Has a Plan to Register and Confiscate Your Guns

Ilhan Omar has finally done what gun-control politicians usually try to hide behind poll-tested talking points: she openly called for a national gun registry and a federal “buyback” program to reduce the number of privately owned firearms in America. And just like that, she confirmed exactly what gun owners have been warning about for decades: Registration. Confiscation. Control. Repeat.

This is the blueprint of gun confiscation everywhere it’s ever been tried. And Omar just said the quiet part out loud.

Let’s get one thing straight: the federal government cannot “buy back” something it never owned. There is no world — none — where Americans should be expected to surrender their firearms to bureaucrats who think freedom is a public-health issue and personal property is an inconvenience.

Omar’s proposal isn’t about safety. It is not about crime. It isn’t about “gun violence.” It’s about creating a government database of who owns what guns and where they’re located so they can be confiscated later.

Gun owners know how this script ends. Registration is always the first step. The moment a government knows who has guns and where they’re stored, those guns become political bargaining chips for the next wave of extremists demanding “bold action.”

Just ask Australia. Ask the U.K. Ask Canada.

What begins as “We just want to track them” inevitably becomes, “Turn them in or become a criminal.”

But here’s the most insulting part: Omar’s plan doesn’t target criminals. Not one bit. Criminals — by definition — don’t register guns. They don’t voluntarily surrender guns. They don’t comply with unconstitutional databases cooked up by Washington politicians.

So who will her registry track? You. The law-abiding gun owner. The soft target. The one who actually follows the law.

Omar’s entire proposal turns the focus away from the violent criminals who terrorize communities and aims it squarely at the people who haven’t done anything wrong. That’s not just unconstitutional — it’s tyrannical.

And make no mistake: the Second Amendment isn’t a suggestion. It isn’t a privilege. It isn’t a “guideline” that can be rewritten whenever Congress feels emotional. It’s a restriction on government, not on the American people.

What Ilhan Omar is proposing is nothing less than the most sweeping power grab in modern American history…a federal map of every law-abiding gun owner in the country. A registry designed for future confiscation. A system purposely crafted to undermine the very protections that keep this country free.

The Founders didn’t enshrine the Second Amendment because they thought deer might shoot back. They wrote it because they understood something Omar clearly does not: a government that fears an armed people is a government that stays in its lane. A government that seeks to map, track, and control every firearm is a government preparing to abandon its lane entirely. And gun owners won’t stand for it.

Chris McNutt, President of Texas Gun Rights, put it best:

Ilhan Omar isn’t talking about safety — she’s talking about control. A national registry is the federal government asking for the addresses of every gun owner in America so they can kick down our doors later. Over my dead body will Texas Gun Rights ever let that happen.

Gun owners have seen this movie before. And we know exactly how it ends, unless we stop it.

Now is not the time for compromise. Now is not the time for polite disagreement. Now is the time to say NO — loudly, unapologetically, and without giving an inch. Because if we don’t crush this idea right now, the people who hate the Second Amendment will make sure we never get another chance.

  1. If she dislikes America so much and loves Somalia so much why not take the Somalian approach to firearms? Totally broken and inept government leading to absolute free for all complete with warlords, pirates and slavery.
But then where would the taxpayer funded gravy train 91% of Somalians in America are on come from? Maybe we can all guilt Canada into supporting us with their welfare.

  2. Note that Ms. Omar is a mooslim–the “religion” whose “holy” book instructs adherents to eliminate innfidells. (Sure, most Islamb supporters will deny this fact because it paints them in a VERY bad light. Nonetheless, it is in their book.)

It should come as no surprise, then, that she wants to eliminate citizen firearm ownership and make their Islamb task of eliminating innfidells as easy as possible.

    1. For fun I went over to Reddit to check on how they were handling Iran and Egypt objecting to their pride day soccer match.
So after decades of leftists ignoring the more objectionable attributes of Islam and instead cheerleading for importing millions of them and manufacturing absurd groups like “gays for Syria” or whatever they’ve decided that it isn’t the fault of Islam that Egypt and Iran re upset but rather the fault of “conservatives.” I suppose that means somewhere there is a predominately Muslim country or even a predominantly Muslim neighborhood that’s not “conservative.” I was under the impression that Egypt was considered a more “moderate” Muslim nation. They don’t execute nearly as many homosexuals as Iran does and they even let their women drive cars.
