I’m new here. My politics have shifted left after seeing the horrors that MAGA has inflicted upon this country. But also, being very pro-gun means I also have concerns.
If I start voting blue, (In Tennessee BTW) what guarantee do I have against new gun restrictions? The Democratic gubernatorial candidate in my state is in favor of Red Flag laws. From what I understand, the idea is, if you represent a threat to yourself or others, you can have your guns temporarily confiscated.
My concern is where is the nuance there? If I make a dark joke about myself, does that make me suicidal and require confiscation? If I make a dark joke about Trump, does that make me a terrorist and require confiscation?
Some of these aspects of these laws allow law enforcement to act immediately without any sort of prior hearing or discussion. So, I basically have to walk on eggshells around everyone just in case I accidentally say something actionable?
Am I wrong on any of this? If I am, I would love to get clarity. I really want to un-fuck my state, but I don’t want to lose my 2nd amendment rights in the process.

Sigh. The “horrors” inflicted by MAGA…are what? Asking for facts never gets anything concrete in response, just vague anecdotes that don’t pan out and some emotional responses with little connection to reality. Sadly there seems to be no cure for this boneheaded way of feeling (there is evidently little thought involved). Vote however your social media “friends” vote so you can be part of the Resistance, just like everyone else in your circle. But don’t come crying when you’re next on the menu when the Left gains control.

Judging by the comments and what I’ve observed about these people, the perceived horrors are: deportations, keeping males out of female spaces, ending DEI practices, removing secksually* explicit material from schools, and a general sense of racism. Of course they frame it differently with the usual oppressor/oppressed lens.

They seem to delight in chemically castrating children and removing perfectly fine breasts from young girls. They’re horrified by this thing we’ve called normal for all of human history until a few years ago. Progressive politics in a nutshell. Gotta keep pushing those boundaries.

I suggest everyone read the what this person said. And the comments under it.
It all just validates what I have said about liberal gun owners. They came to the 2A very late. And completely supported racist gun control. All their life.
The libertarians liberals and leftists. The three L’s have always been a threat to freedom. Because they have never believed in the responsibility and consequences that go with it.
The three L’s all supported the policies the caused crime to go up. They supported replacing the father with a government welfare check. They were comfortable with public housing banning gun ownership. They supported raising the misdemeanor level up to $950. They complained about the jails and prisons being over crowded. Even if they were not.
They supported low or a no bail for violent felons.
They supported open borders. Flooding the country with illegal alien criminals. And a flood of drugs.
So now just like they have a problem in their own mind, trying to justify a black person becoming a firearms instructor. They also have a problem trying to justify voting for gun civil rights.
And they project the violence, the BLM riots, that they supported back in 2020, on to trump voters years later.
President Trump is the most pro 2A President since the founders. And that makes liberal gun owners very uncomfortable.
They are utopians. You are never going to get everything you want from the person you voted for.
Legal butt sex and drugs are far more important to the three L’s than 2A civil rights. And to them the 1st amendment was written for tjeir p0rn0gr@phy. They supported the government banning church attendance. But allowed BLM protests and pride parades.
They knowingly and enthusiastically voted for an anti-civil rights h0m0sezu@l for governor in Colorado. Because who he had sex, with was more important to them. Then any public policy.
They put many anti-civil rights g@ys into power.
It was a dead white man. Governor Reagan who signed the most racist modern day gun control law. The Mulford Act. And years later. It was a living h0m0sezu@l white man. California state senate president Tom Ammiano, who publicly said he liked the law. And would not support a repeal of it. And liberals, gun owners or not, voted to keep Tom Ammiano in power.
And yes, I know that the black panther party for self-defense made many people very uncomfortable.
But it is very interesting just how much white liberals support, the civil rights of the KKK when they protest in public.

I bet most of these viral posts are fake. They’re designed to drive engagement or push a narrative. The subtle narrative here is that “MAGA” is so bad that it’s turning people in a deeply red state into Democratic voters, so you should consider voting Democrat too! Let’s be honest and admit that the 2A isn’t what most people are thinking about when they vote.
For those that don’t want it. A few years ago, I believe Tennessee was the most violent state in the country. Of the 50 states Tennessee was number one.
And nearly all the murders, assaults, home invasions, etc. They all came from the city of Memphis.
Which is why the President sent in the national guard. And the mostly black residents there are very happy the president sent in the guard. The mayor supports it. But the elected black democrats don’t. And the white g@y j00ish man who representatived the city in congress, also doesn’t support the guard deployment.

It wasn’t the state, its was a couple of blue jurisdictions in the state.
People point to violence stats for a red state and say “look at the violence stats in red states so there!” – in reality in red states its the violence in the blue democrat jurisdictions or blue dominated areas in the state that inflates the state total and make it look that way.
To borrow from StarWars … as master Yoda would say: ‘Anywhere blue, is violence always.’

The writer obviously comes from a very shallow and p*ss filled gene pool.
The whole idea of a protected right is that it is possessed equally by all citizens and that no citizen can be deprived of that right unless they have been convicted of misusing it.
In the case of the Second Amendment, the right begins with personal self-defense and, with the addition of more citizens, grows to communal defense
There is also a right to support any party or candidate, based on your personal stand on various issues. There’s nothing wrong with voting for candidates from different parties. In fact, that’s the best choice a citizen could make. Leave litmus tests to the chemistry sets.
Since you may get drawn into discussions with those who adhere to the party line, arm yourself with facts whenever you can. There are The most important thing to remember is that, in any debate, your goal is not to persuade your opponent. It’s to persuade the audience.
