The U.S. Department of Justice waited 37 years to challenge Denver’s gun control law, only to demand the law’s repeal just after police released a trove of records underscoring for Coloradans why limiting access to guns with high-capacity magazines is essential.
The DOJ is now suing Denver over its ban on weapons that can hold more than 15 bullets, and it is suing the state of Colorado over a similar ban on magazines that hold more than 15 bullets. These long-delayed federal challenges against common-sense gun laws are silly, given that both laws have already withstood numerous legal challenges and predate the common circulation in America of weapons intended for war.
Denver’s ban predates even the 1994 federal assault weapons ban that Congressmembers foolishly let expire in 2004. The state-wide ban on magazines came in 2013, just a year after the Aurora Theater shooting, where, in a matter of seconds, an assailant with a 100-round magazine was able to kill 12 people and injure 70 more. Incident reports said the attack only stopped when the gun jammed.
But we only have to go back less than a year for a reminder of why these laws exist. Just last month, police released hundreds of pages of documents from the Evergreen High School shooting.
Democrats love citing instances of mental patients, degenerates and their key constituents murdering people as justification to punish me and you.
Maybe try locking up mental patients, not tolerating embracing and subsidizing degeneracy and not excusing the behavior of their constituents as “culturally appropriate” or somehow justifiable because the ethereal “man” has “kept them down.”

This is false. What was released was simply from the investigation of the Evergreen High School shooting by a mentally ill 16 year old named Desmond Holly who used a stolen (from parents) Smith and Wesson .38 Special revolver. He reloaded multiple times. None of which underscores any thing except that a so called ‘high capacity’ magazine was not used. The author assumes with false logic that because a revolver was used and no ‘high capacity magazine’ that the victim count was lower – the author fails to take into account that the ‘target areas’ had very few people in them to begin with as a lockdown had been implemented and the killer was a really bad shot, and this was the reason for the lower victim count.

That’s not true. Basically, It was set to ‘sunset’ (expire) and could not be revived because it was actually part of a larger omnibus crime bill (shoe horned in by none other than Joe Biden). So no one ‘let it expire’, it was specially written to expire and could not be revived.
But the whole missive is full of slanted and biased language and false misleading wording and false logic.
Desmond Holly was raised left wing by his left wing progressive parents steeped in left wing ideology, although not confirmed its indicated he was ‘gender confused’ and leaning ‘trans’. He had adopted the standard far left wing symbolism, and had adopted the left wing ideology of ‘social murder’ (a marx*ist soci*lism name used to justify murder) and was fascinated by and studied previous mass/school shooters. He was ‘inspired’ by left wing extremist content and visual depictions of graphic left wing violence that was celebrated by users of the social media platform he was on.
The left wing media tried to blame this on ‘white supremacy extremism’ because the name of one of his most recent TikTok account supposedly included a reference to a popular ‘White supremacist slogan’ (which really wasn’t, but rather a slogan adopted by the far left wing). He had an account on the gore forum WatchPeopleDie, where he had commented on posts about shootings in Parkland (2018), Buffalo (2022) and at a Quebec City mosque (2017), he posted content emulating former shooters such as Rupnow and the 1999 Columbine High School shooters. He was further ‘radicalized’ on line by an “extremist network”.
Collectively, his parents raised him in left wing ‘progressiveness’ which is void of the moral structure of society having been substituted by the made up ‘morality’ of left wing ‘progressiveness’ which says ‘murder’ is ok to bring about ‘change’ or enacts ‘revenge’ that favors left wing ‘progressiveness’ (‘social murder’) . He leaned exactly the way his parents raised him void of any actual moral tethers and teachings, he went into the rabbit hole searching for ‘something’ upon which to form a ‘moral code’ and found left wing extremism which fed his left wing ’emotional angst’.

ATF Draft Form 4473 Changes Marijuana Question, Opens Door to Direct Gun Shipping.
“The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has released a draft of its new ‘Firearms Transaction Record’ form (ATF Form 4473), which has been shortened and simplified.
The first change to the form is the removal of ‘Non-Binary’ under ‘Sex.’ There are now only two choices: ‘Male’ or ‘Female.’ Some have claimed that the elimination of ‘Non-Binary’ is a de facto transgender gun ban, but that claim doesn’t square with reality. Gun buyers are instructed to choose the sex they were assigned at birth. Since everyone is born either male or female, the question doesn’t prevent anyone from buying a gun.
In its current form, the 4473 asks the potential firearms buyer whether they are the ‘actual transferee/buyer’ of the item in question. The way the question is worded makes it seem like you cannot legally buy a gun for another person.
That is not and never has been the law.

How long did the federal government wait to challenge the segregation of schools by race after Reconstruction? I seem to remember it being a good deal longer than 37 years. And I remind the Denver Post that the common circulation of weapons intended for war goes back to before the Founding, and is indeed the primary point of the 2nd Amendment.
There is always a reason why ‘now just isn’t a good time’.
