Another Win for Gun Control: ‘Jihad Jack’ Got a Gun Permit While Millions of Australians Remained Disarmed

In 2022, the year before alleged Bondi gunman Sajid Akram was permitted to have a gun, the NSW Firearms Registry granted a licence to one of the first men to be charged with anti-terrorism offences in Australia. His nickname was Jihad Jack.

The permit, given to a man who had once shaken hands with Osama bin Laden and had fought for the Taliban, did not ring alarm bells in the NSW Police counterterrorism unit for two weeks after it was issued, and did so only because he attempted to have his licence transferred into another of his many names. The permit was not formally revoked for a full year. During his appeal, the registry argued that it shouldn’t have to verify the information that it was given.

The case shows how warning signs have been ignored or missed at the NSW Firearms Registry, and it raises questions about whether there are more people who have been approved for gun permits despite having red flags in their background.

  1. This happens far too often to be a simple mistake or bureaucratic failure.

The state benefits from terrorism more than the terrorists themselves through more power, expanding bureaucracy, endless slush funds, an ever afraid population willing to put up with anything for the illusion of security, a scapegoat for their failures and perhaps most useful of all a phantom boogeyman to call upon whenever the people start to notice their eroding liberties and dwindling purchasing power.

I’m sure the first answer when anyone is asked why this happened will be to create another office to oversee the process and to further restrict who can have access to what while continuing to ignore all the other Jihad Jacks already ashore and import even more.

They like to say terrorists hate us for our freedoms and it looks like government blames freedom for inciting terrorists.

    1. “They like to say terrorists hate us for our freedoms…”

They made that up for obvious reasons. It never made sense. They hate us for meddling in their affairs.

  2. OF COURSE he got a permit to buy and bear arms; he was an ‘oppressed minority’, after all, amirite???

Attention Debbie Dimwit: the underlying purpose of almost ALL ‘modern’ gun control is disarming the law-abiding, tax-paying, responsible citizens of the US (bonus points for disarming white, Christian conservatives), and this is an excellent example. If I am reading his recent posts correctly, our friend Southern Cross may be legally compelled to surrender some of his guns, as he is over their “limit” . . . and, yet, Jihad Jack apparently had no problems. Y’all got your racism backwards, you busy ditch.
