She Says She Found the Perfect Women’s Tactical Pants. No Really

Last Spring, a friend reached out to me to ask if I would field-test Kitanica’s Women’s Tactical Outdoor pants. At first, I hesitated because, honestly, finding a pair of women’s pants that fit correctly in all the right places is next to impossible. Often, the waist is too low (making it awkward to bend down or swat), too high (causing difficulty when drawing from a holster) or isn’t adjustable to fit for both inside the waist band carry and outside the waist band.

Then there’s the width of the pant legs…so tight they won’t fit around my calves (Yes, I was blessed with, as my mom called them, “sausage legs”) or wide enough to accommodate a pair of cowboy boots. And let’s not forget the length of the pant leg issues. Either I’m tripping over them or someone says, “Hey, where’s the flood?”

However, after talking with the Kitanica’s COO/owner, I decided to give them a try.

Katanica Women’s Tactical Outdoor pants are available in sizes 00 through 18, in long, regular, and short lengths. There are currently four colors: space black, wolf grey, ranger green and sand khaki.

When the package arrived and I first tried them on, I was pleasantly surprised. They fit true to size and are very comfortable. The true test came when I wore them to the range. That’s when I realized I may have found the perfect pair of pants.

Here are my favorite features . . .

  • The fabric is lightweight ripstop. While I on the range, it started pouring. The rain appeared to roll off rather than soaking into my pants like a sponge.
  • Articulated knees make all the difference, especially on the range when bending and squatting to pick up brass or get into various shooting positions.
  • Even though I wore an OWB holster, I know Katanica’s Women’s Tactical Outdoor pants will also fit well with an IWB holster. Why? Because of the paneled stretch waistband and cinch-able waist adjustment. It’s super-easy to adjust the waist size, and it doesn’t look ridiculous when you change sizing from one extreme to another. These pants fit and look great regardless.
  • I love pockets that are useful and not just fluff. There are numerous options in these pants to keep all your necessities.
  • The rise is modest and not overly high, allowing me enough room for a smooth draw.

All of my complaints about women’s pants that I listed above were not an issue in the Kitanicas. It almost seems like they heard my complaints and created a style that works based on that.

I wore the pants in the Spring while attending a ladies-only training event in Georgia. After no less than ten people asked me for the brand name and permission to take a photo of the label, I posted a picture on the group’s Facebook page. I love these pants! They fit very well, are durable and functional.
