Good Gear: Palmetto State Armory Sabre 30mm MSR Scope Mount

PSA Sabre 30mm MSR scope mount

In the 2025 Anno Domini I crossed off a major bucket list gun, or close enough. Palmetto State Armory released their Sabre line of firearms, many of which are fairly close clones of popular military rifles. I picked up a Sabre-10 clone of the M110 and over a multi-article series brought it even closer to true M110 spec.

The final topper was a surplus Leupold 3.5-10x M110 scope. But as with all good optics, it needs a solid bed to rest in.  Enter the PSA Sabre 30mm MSR scope mount.

As with everything else in the Sabre lineup, the MSR scope mount aims for really-close-but-not-exact levels of visual clone-ism (to the original KAC scope mount in this case), while bringing modern machining and a reasonable price.

How well does it achieve these goals? Let’s find out after reading the tech specs.

Tech Specs:

Installation

Getting the PSA MSR 30mm scope mount up and running isn’t difficult. I take the top rings off, lay the scope in, and (carefully) slide the optic forward and back until eye relief is right where I want it through the whole magnification range. I move the mount itself if needed. Then I mark the scope’s position with a little tape and thread the bolts in until they’re just snug enough to keep the scope from moving without me wanting it to.

Using a flat edged ruler, I wedge horizontally underneath the scope to make it mechanically level, verifying by looking through the scope, of course. Snug up the bolts appropriately, and you’re in business.

I forgot I still needed article photos until halfway through an updated rattle-can job, so excuse my overspray.

Use

I’m not going to pretend a scope mount is something complex, deserving of a 1,000-word dissertation. Does the Palmetto State Armory 30mm MSR scope mount perform as it should? In a word, yes.

I’m about 500 rounds of .308 Winchester deep since last year when I picked up the mount and no issues related to anything with the optical setup have cropped up. No loss of zero, no loose bolts, just simple reliability.

While .308 may not be a jackhammer on your optics, I have had more than a couple of scope rings come loose over the years. The PSA Sabre 30mm mount is given a little more to handle since I usually use the optic itself as a carry handle.

Is that recommended? No. Not at all, but I expect my civilian equipment to hold up to the same abuse I put my issued equipment through in 2nd Ranger Bn, and the carry handle issue is a pretty mild test.

All I care about is that when I shoot, my rounds go where I expect them. The PSA Sabre 30mm MSR scope mount is doing its part in that process.

Bottom Line

Whether you’re in the market for any 30mm MSR scope mount that fits your needs, or you want one that fits the early GWOT aesthetic more specifically, the Palmetto State Armory Sabre MSR 30mm scope mount works quite well. At $94.99 it’s priced pretty reasonably as well.
