After the GOP Wipeout, are We About to See a New 2020-Style Gun-Buying Surge

Tuesday’s troubling national and state election results, putting anti-gun Democrats in charge of Congress and some governors’ offices and state legislatures come January, will likely set off a rush of buyers to gun shops and sporting goods stores between now and then as people prepare for new assaults on the Second Amendment, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is predicting.

“We may be about to witness a surge in gun buying not seen since 2020,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “We also anticipate a flood of new, anti-Second Amendment legislation designed to further restrict the rights of law-abiding citizens, especially in states with legislatures controlled by Democrats, and from Congress. The gun prohibition lobby is probably already salivating over various schemes to ratchet down on gun owners, to get around a string of recent U.S. Supreme Court rulings which have affirmed the individual right to keep and bear arms.

“The gun control crowd may attempt to pass legislation relating to modern semiautomatic rifles and pistols in anticipation of the Supreme Court ruling on whether these firearms are protected by the Second Amendment,” he continued. “That could easily ignite a semi-auto buying surge, so nobody should be surprised when that happens. When you tell Americans they can’t have something, they rush to buy whatever it is.

“One other phenomenon we look for is a sharp rise in memberships and support, not just to the Citizens Committee, but other gun rights organizations,” Gottlieb said. “American gun owners traditionally rally around national groups such as the CCRKBA and our sister organization, the Second Amendment Foundation, because they know we will be on the front lines, fighting in the trenches, to defend our constitutionally-protected, fundamental rights from the attacks we see coming just over the political horizon.

“Watch the gun prohibition movement to once again be unintentionally responsible for surging gun and ammunition sales,” Gottlieb said, “and for renewed and energized support for groups fighting to defend the American heritage and Bill of Rights.”

  1. Along with an increase in gun and ammunition sales there may also be a surge in “canoe” sales,
if you know what I mean and you most likely do.

  2. You’re crazy.
Democrats have way more important things to do like lower the cost of food, fuel, housing and healthcare.
No way they’re going to ignore all of those things they ran on and waste everyone’s time and money pushing something nobody wants like gun control. /sarc
