Where’s the Nice? Why Are Minnesota’s Angry Leftist Politicians So Violent?

Minnesota Nice? More like Minnesota Nasty.

Thursday evening, on the Minnesota House floor, Democrats lost a party line 67-67 vote to ram through a gun-grab bill they really really wanted. As John Hinderaker explains the dynamic in the Land of 10,000 Lakes . . .

Desperate to deflect attention from Minnesota’s fraud scandals, the state’s Democrats have seized on gun control as a political lifeline, much as they did with abortion in 2022. Despite having passed an anti-gun package when they had complete control over state government in 2023, the Democrats have come up with a new bill that, among other things, would ban sales of “assault weapons,” i.e., semiautomatic rifles (and some pistols) with a modern, modular design typified by a black plastic stock rather than a brown wooden stock. Existing owners of “assault weapons,” like me, would have to register their firearms with the state.

Instead of accepting the defeat like adults, they launched an overnight sit-in, chanting and throwing fits because they couldn’t ban “scary black rifles” from law-abiding citizens.

Enter DFL Rep. Aisha Gomez, co-chair of the House Tax Committee. According to multiple Republican witnesses and video, Gomez accosted GOP Rep. Elliott Engen and screamed at him to “go f***ing kill himself.” On the House floor. Right there in front of God and everyone.

Republicans, to their credit, aren’t letting it slide. House Speaker Lisa Demuth and others are demanding Gomez be booted from her committee. Because apparently, when you’re a radical DFLer obsessed with disarming law-abiding Minnesotans, telling a colleague to off himself is just “passionate advocacy,” not a violent would-be tyrant.

What set her off? Democrats’ all-consuming rage over the failure of a bill that would ban the sale of AR-15-style rifles, standard capacity magazines, and other perfectly legal firearms by licensed dealers. You know, the kind of “common-sense” measure that only aspiring tyrants claim will stop criminals…while leaving the rest of us defenseless.

These are the same unhinged authoritarians who spent the entire session whining about “gun violence” (which, as we all know is most often gang violence) after tragic shootings, yet their solution is always the same: strip gun rights from the average citizen. The kind of people who don’t work behind armed guards. You know, the law-abiding. Meanwhile, these same crazies can’t even behave themselves when ostensibly doing the people’s business.

And if you think Gomez is some lone crackpot in Walzistan, look a little higher up the food chain. Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan — the same one running hard for U.S. Senate in 2026 — is all-in on this gun-control crusade. Endorsed by every wine-swilling Moms Demand Action midwit and fresh off of pushing “universal background checks” and gun ban hysteria, Flanagan is just a slightly more polished face of the same authoritarian impulse.

While she campaigns on “Minnesota values,” her party’s values look a lot like: “Give us your guns, or else — and if you disagree, maybe go kill yourself.”

This isn’t governance. It’s a childish temper tantrum with taxpayer-funded security. Democrats don’t trust you with an AR-15, but they expect you to trust them with unchecked power. Minnesota “nice,” — if it ever really existed — died the day these control freaks decided your Second Amendment civil rights are optional. The real threat isn’t the rifles — it’s unhinged authoritarians desperate to ban them.

  1. 1. For those who didn’t know how to curb violent crime, Trump showed the way with record-low murder and violent crime rates in the cities and districts he focused on. Did he ban guns or accessories to achieve that? Nope. He enforced the law. What a crazy idea.

    2. Is that an AI-generated picture of typical Democrats? Would Miner be more like the one on the left or right?

  2. Because they’ve given themselves over to a third-world mentality where stealing, necklacing your enemies and rallying behind warlords is how things get done.

From the pic at the top: Gomez has been feeding a little too often it looks like. And that hair … looks like she ripped some Spanish moss off a tree, dyed it, and stuck it on.

  6. So now you have a problem with disruptive tactics in legislative bodies?

But you’re fine with Donald Trump giving 1500 of his supporters a pardon and $1.7 billion in compensation for their violent attack on the United States Capitol during a joint session of Congress.

    Fascinating…
