However, you went beyond that, and your assumption that his mother didn’t train him properly is a thin attempt to embellish. That would be like me commenting on your own sibling’s behavior and then telling the world your mother didn’t attempt to teach anyone in your family right from wrong.

You might be correct about the thug’s upbringing, or you might not. The point is that you presented your comment in a factual context, when it was only your personal assumption. That’s not good reporting, and doesn’t lend a wider credence to your articles.

Clearly, the violent thug lacked fundamental manners and a respect for the rule of law. And he got the just desserts he deserved.

It’s why they hate having fathers in the home who provide
love and discipline. Including protection.

And it’s why they always hated the boy scouts who also provide discipline and moral guidance.

That appears to be an assumption on the author’s part, and not good journalism. My own mother definitely taught me to treat women well, and decades later I’m still married to my high school sweetheart and best friend. My brother received the same training as I did, but has committed adulteries, divorced his past wives (yes, plural), slept with other mens’ wives, treated women poorly, cut off all ties with our mother, and is currently under scrutiny for a serious crime against a past romantic partner for financial gain. Same wholesome upbringing, but two very different outcomes because we all make our own decisions. Rejection of such upbringing is why we have the word “rebel” in our lexicon.

I am a huge proponent of training and practice. I want everyone to get as much training and practice as humanly possible. At the same time, I am a huge opponent of requirements that everyone must have extensive training and practice before they can own/use a firearm for emergency self-defense. There are too many examples to count where people with no prior training use a firearm effectively and responsibly to save lives. That is why extensive training is highly desirable and yet cannot ever be an entry barrier to firearm ownership and use.
