The prosecutors are libertarians, or they think like libertarians. They don’t believe certain crimes should be crimes at all. And they believe there are too many people being locked up in jails.

We’ve allowed miscreants of all stripes to hide behind institutions.
“The Department of Labor” announced…, “The Department of Education” today issued a rule…, a spokesperson for the “DOJ”… someone with a name and title decided that announcement. Someone (or someones) with a name and title signed off on that rule. We don’t even get the name of the DOJ flunky passing on what someone with a name and title decided.
Give the military credit for this: every order has a signature at the bottom. If the staff issues it, the order states so, and names the staff officer.
I don’t know if there is a concerted effort.to.hide, but the media bears a big responsibility in this. Either publish the name, or state that it’s being hidden

Of course some prosecutors are not going to prosecute for so doing would weaken the left’s position relative to gun control. It’s a no-brainier. Prosecuting fully might stabilize and/or reduce crime overall which would reduce at the least and at the most destroy the left’s arguments against P O T G.

Depends on which gun laws we are talking about. The one in the story, fine. But how about people who find themselves in NYC after their flight was diverted or someone caught passing through WA with a standard capacity magazine.

Yet this article fails to name the Assistant US Attorney who opted to let the crook go! Why?

If the author truly believes his own thesis — that such prosecutors are a “clear and present danger” — then why does he shy away from identifying them? Isn’t it important for the public to know who these people are, and to press that they not ever be given positions of authority?

Either grow a pair and name them, or explain why you won’t!

And did the author seek comment or explanation from the AUSA? E.g., was he pressured to drop it by higher ups (and if so, they should also be named and shamed), or was it his/her own call?
