Inches to the left or right of the point of aim at 25 yards is still well within the 18" center of mass that an intruder presents. Call it 5" for a group and that's 20" for 100 yards - most of those would still be a hit, and that is what counts in self defense, not a scoring ring. Two additional improvements are available - a red dot, which is a known accuracy improver as demonstrated with the M16 in service - it gets more hits with less skill for soldiers who aren't trained extensively in the old school WWI long range style. It was discovered soldiers have to train and keep practicing to gain that skill and its simply more expense than any .Gov cares to attempt. Its why only a small handful are snipers or DM's now - and for the close range combat that wars have devolved to, its about all we need.

Another accuracy improver is a rifled choke and those are now being added to the Shockwave with its thick easily adapted barrel. Since 100 yard slug guns for deer started extending ranged out to 200 yards with improvements, I see no reason a Shockwave can't hit a pie plate at 100. Its out their for those willing to discover what choke and slug are compatible.
